EE/CS 118 VHD References
In the Pasta Lab
Books:
-
Analysis and Design of Digital Systems with VHDL, Allen Dewey, PWS
Publishing Company, 1997. - This book combines digital design and VHDL.
The VHDL is in chapters 11-19, and there is a list of VHDL keywords in
Appendix B on page 664.
-
VHDL, Douglas L. Perry, Second Edition, McGraw Hill, 1993. - Last
year's text, chosen for it's good description of the semantics of VHDL,
but students complained they could not find things in it.
-
A VHDL Primer, Jayaram Bhasker, Prentice Hall, 1992. This is a good
book to use if you just want to check on syntax issues. Appendix B is a
complete syntax reference.
-
The Designer's Guide to VHDL by Peter J. Ashenden, Morgan Kaufmann
Publishers, 1995 This is the book I use, so you might as well use it too.
It is very complete and has good examples.
One-page Handout:
Next to the printer you will find copies of the "VHDL Language
Reference Card". Some are folded, some are not. This is a double-sided,
one-sheet guide to VHDL syntax. It is obviously incomplete, but might be
handy for quickly looking up reserved words, types, operators and other
syntax.
