EER-018 Lab Report Guidelines
The laboratory report for each week is to be written neatly or typed on
8.5" X 11" paper and stapled together in the upper left corner. The report
should consist of the following sections:
Cover Page
Print the course number, the title and number of the experiment, centered
on the page. List your name below this, followed by the date the experiment
was performed. Write your instructor's name in the lower left corner and
your laboratory partner's name in the lower right corner.
Report Body
-
Objective:
-
In no more than four sentences, state in your own words the purpose
of performing the experiment.
-
Equipment:
-
List the quantity and part number for each integrated circuit that you
used. (small components, such as switches, wires and LEDs excepted) For
Max+Plus labs, list the software version (version 9.0 this year) and the
names of the files you created.
-
Procedure:
-
Summarize the steps that you took during the lab. Details are not necessary,
since you will attach the lab handout to your report. A brief (about 2
paragraphs or so) discussion of the major steps should be included. It
is important that these be stated in your own words. Do not copy them from
the lab handout.
-
Results:
-
This part of the report should contain the circuit drawings, data, calculations
made on this data, and comparison with theoretical results. It will be the
longest part of the report. Make sure that
you answer all of the questions posed in the lab handout, including those in the
Procedure and Questions section. The material
should be well organized and all results should be explained. Diagrams
and tables should be numbered and referred to by number.
-
Conclusion:
-
Write a paragraph or two that describes the major points of the lab. Also
feel free to discuss any problems you had performing the experiment (gripes)
and any insights that you would like to share (profound statements).
Appendices
-
Attach your prelab results and lab handout to the end of the lab report.
Lab reports are due at the next lab session. LATE lab reports will have a 20%
penalty, if they are handed in within one week of the due dtate.
***Graded laboratory reports should be included in your portfolio.***
