Union College Computer Systems Engineering
Advisory Committee Charter
The
Computer Systems Engineering Advisory Committee is composed of representatives
from the program’s constituencies and serves to advise the Computer Systems
Engineering Program Director and the chairs of the Electrical Engineering and
Computer Science departments. It makes recommendations for changes in the
program’s mission, objectives, student outcomes and assessment processes that
will strengthen the program. It is also charged with providing guidance and
support for other issues brought to the committee by the program director.
The
committee is composed of the following members who nominally serve one or two
3-year terms.

4 or more representatives from companies that typically
hire Computer Systems Engineering students
·
4 Computer Systems Engineering student members including 2
seniors and 2 juniors
·
2 or more Computer Systems Engineering alumni
·
1 or more representatives from graduate programs that typically
accept Computer Systems Engineering students

non-voting members of the committee include:

The
Chair of Electrical Engineering
The
Chair of Computer Science
New
members will be nominated by committee officers, with consultation with the
program director.
The
committee shall be led by a Chair, elected annually by the voting members of
the committee. The Chair will work closely with the Computer Systems Engineering
Program Director to develop agendas for meetings and propose activities for the
committee. The chair will run meetings of the committee. A Vice-Chair, also
elected annually by the voting members of the committee, will take on the
responsibilities of the Chair when the Chair must be absent. A Secretary, also
elected annually by the voting members of the committee, will be responsible
for recording and distributing minutes of meetings.
Elections
for Chair, Vice-Chair, and Secretary will take place each summer after the June
meeting and will be conducted electronically. Nominations for these positions
will be collected and solicited by the Computer Systems Engineering Program
Director. The list of candidates will be emailed to all voting members for
their votes, and the results will be counted and announced by the Computer
Systems Engineering Program Director.
The
Computer Systems Engineering Advisory Committee will meet at least twice per
year, once in the spring, and once in the fall. Additional business may be
conducted electronically between meetings, and if the Chair and Program
Director find it necessary, additional meetings may be called.
The
Computer Systems Engineering Program Director will maintain an email list of
all current committee members for the convenience of committee communication.
Meeting minutes will be distributed to all committee members by the Secretary,
and maintained on a private web page by the Computer Systems Engineering
Program Director for the benefit of committee members.
